Do Hair Extensions Damage Hair? | Cooperative Hair

Want gorgeous flowing locks without the fear that your hair will end up damaged? It’s a common misconception that hair extension damage is unavoidable. The truth is, most hair extensions aren’t bad for hair, any damage could be the cause of an inexperienced hair stylist. That’s why I advocate for working with a hair stylist that specializes and has expertise in installing damage free hair extensions. Let’s explore the Breaded sewn row Method that we work with here at The CO I Operative Salon to put your mind at ease.

Breaded Sewn Row

Breaded sewn row is a hand tied hair extension method for installing hair extensions that require no tape or glue, it replaces other methods with it’s natural results and damage free application. Breaded sewn row is versatile as it suits the majority of hair types, it’s safe and effective on fine hair and is also the best method for thick hair. The result will be full coverage volume and your hair will continue to grow healthily and happily even while the hair extensions are installed – yes please! And when the time comes to remove or reinstall them, as there aren’t any polymer bonds, it means that no harsh removers are placed on your hair preventing any damage. Since all Breaded sewn row are custom colored, they are seamless and blend perfectly with your natural hair. Now you can say goodbye to strategically trying to hide your hair extensions.

The best and easiest way to prevent heat damage or to help your hair become healthy again is to simply stop using heated hair tools. In some severe cases, you may also need to trim or cut your hair to remove the dead ends. I understand that foregoing heated styling tools completely isn’t always the desirable option, therefore I will share some ways to minimize potential damage.

The Difference

While other hair extension methods can require the use of up to 80% of your hair to install, Breaded sewn row only uses 10% of your hair protecting you from any damage. The way other methods are installed can mean your hair is twisted and turned at the root resulting in hair becoming loose and forming knots at the root. Contrarily, Breaded sewn row is lock stitched into place so the sewn row grows in alignment with your natural hair, never twisting at the root and therefore never resulting in any hair loss.

Lastly, some hair extension methods mean hair stylists will only advise you to have a check-in appointment after 2-6 months, whereas Breaded sewn row stylists will see their clients every 4 weeks. These sessions, called a tune up, is when your hair stylist will ensure the health of your hair and scalp, remove natural shedding, maintain your hair extensions and restore them to their correct placement without having to completely reinstall. This will save you time and money, and allow you to enjoy your hair extensions for up to 6 months with proper care!
